Minecraft Pocket Edition Lite is the free version of the popular indie sandbox game. Updated for 2012, it now features a survival mode, pushing it one step closer to the full Minecraft experience.
New features
The first release of Minecraft Pocket Edition was a very basic game, with a small selection of blocks and tools allowing you to build, mine and create but little else. Now you can choose between that gentle creative mode and survival mode. There are now more blocks available, including doors, fences and gates. In survival mode you have some infinite resources, and some you have to collect yourself. Night also features, along with the monsters that give survival it's name.
Small worlds
Infinite building blocks and torches mean that Minecraft Pocket Edition doesn't have the same pressure as the desktop version. There is still no crafting, but maybe the biggest disappointment is the size limit of the Minecraft worlds. You'll quickly reach the edge of the world, which make the game feel small.
Minecraft Pocket Edition looks and moves well, and the list of features is growing, making this a lot of fun. Hopefully as phones get more powerful, the game will be able to have bigger worlds!
